In foster care since age 10, in a total of four different homes since, Esther appreciates the insights she has gained from having been in the system. “Being in the foster care system, though a difficult experience, has allowed me to appreciate everything that I have been granted in life: my health, my family, my friends, and basic necessities.”
Esther has been able to give back to her community by tutoring high school students and being involved with First-Year Student Outreach Project through Boston University. Through this project she was able to volunteer with children at local elementary schools, shelters, and other organizations. Esther enjoys many outdoor activities such as sailing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and archery. She also enjoys composing music on her piano and guitar. “I like to be well-rounded and try different things all the time.”
